There are a few things that annoy me in anime: robotic, anachronistic doppelgangers; characters that get saved in the last few seconds; oddly inserted comedy; arrogant MCs (just finish him with the damn sword); and most of all, baddies that pull the ever cliche, "I'll smash you to pieces with this NEXT technique!" at near death, multiple times. Hate to say it but this ep checked all the boxes LOL. Admittedly, these are staples in most action anime to some degree, but the best are more subtle and creative with it. I'm hungry for more story.

I'm like wtf man, just annihilate that weak a$$ wolf demon/demon wolf and get it over with ASAP!! Gah damn, they both kept going back and forth one upping each other, when the whole time the MC's father could've one shotted him easily. I guess they wanted to extend this fight a couple of episodes and give us a taste of the OP fights we'll witness showing us this universes power scale. But then the fight got repetitive like when the characters pull out trump cards (repeatedly) uno reversing each other lol, making it seem comedic instead of a serious threat. It makes me wonder if the father is just not that strong as I thought (overestimating himself) or purposely drawing out the fight for some reason.

Exactly. I mean...I'm all for a good fight and it was cool seeing his father's strength, but it just smacked of the usual/trite excuse to pull out the big boss after lesser devil runs out of cards. I guess I'm just eager for this to continue building the story because we don't even really know anything about these devils or the real antagonists but it's already GO time lol. That's what I love about Fanren, BTTH, even SL--they build a pretty solid story foundation first.

I would watch Swallowed Star but that is IET worst novel. It was good on earth but later it turned real bad. Especially when nobody dies bs later. I hope they do Lord Xue Ying if they didnt already and Coiling Dragon.

Yea, but to me I'd say the wolf demon boss having no eyes, and the way he look kinda remind me of " Bleach" like he look like a soul reaper Hollowification transformation . Especially when he pleaded with his master to grant him more power in his failure, definitely looked like a boss out of " Bleach".

I am pumped to see what happens in the next episode!! That head wolf baddie was creepy asf!! I saw some of the comments below talking about Power Rangers but I kind of like that over the top stuff sometimes!! The animation is still really well done so I really enjoyed the battle!!
